The band started in early 2020 shortly after the Covid pandemic as a way to support the musicians who were struggling due to the lack of work. The product was energizing and although it was music of the Grateful Dead, it quickly took on a new and unique form. Drawing inspiration from the legendary improvisatory style of the Dead, One Good Ring infuses their covers with a revitalizing approach that accentuates the groove and creativity of the band. Each performance is different, expertly weaving intricate melodies and jams that invite audience participation and connection. Sections of spacey, spontaneous exploration are especially potent because of the studied jazz background of many of the musicians in the band.
One Good Ring has performed for audiences spanning from St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Fernandina Beach, Macon, Charleston, and more. Their crowds are instantly captured by a feeling of nostalgia paired with the hot and grooving takes of Grateful Dead classics.
